Oko pet tisuća novinara se akreditiralo za dolazak u Santos kako bi popratilo posljednje trenutke Peleovog ispraćaja

Brazilci su se počeli opraštati od svoje sportske i nogometne legende Pelea, a među prvima je preminulom Peleu počast odao Gianni Infantino, predsjednik Međunarodne nogometne organizacije (FIFA).

Lijes s posmrtnim ostacima legendarnog Pelea dopremljen je i postavljen na središtu travnjaka stadiona Vila Belmiro, kluba Santos, u kojem je Pele igrao od 1956. do 1974. godine. Obožavatelji jednog od najboljih nogometaša svih vremena moći će odati počast do utorka, do 10 sati po tamošnjem vremenu, dokad će bez prekida biti dozvoljen ulazak na stadion.

Infantino je na ispraćaju također iznio jednu dosta kontroverznu ideju.

„FIFA će se sigurno potruditi na pravi način odužiti se Peleu i dati mu počast kakvu zaslužuje. Zamolili smo sve nogometne saveze da u njegovu čast održe minutu šutnje prije svake utakmice, ali isto tako ćemo tražiti da svaka zemlja, od njih 211, jedan stadion nazove njemu u čast. Generacije koje dolaze moraju znati tko je bio Pele i zapamtiti ga“, izjavio je predsjednik FIFA-e Infantino okupljenim novinarima, a prenosi Reuters. Inače, oko pet tisuća novinara se akreditiralo za dolazak u Santos kako bi popratilo posljednje trenutke Peleovog ispraćaja.

Tijekom jutarnjih sati utorka povorka s Peleovim lijesom proći će ulicama Santosa do dolaska na groblje Ecumenical Memorial Necropolis gdje će sprovodu prisustvovati njegova uža i šira obitelj.

Pele je po mnogima najbolji nogometaš svih vremena te je jedini igrač koji je tijekom karijere osvojio tri naslova svjetskog prvaka (1958., 1962. i 1970.).
